Additions to Fitzgerald Aged Care
← View all projectsIt was good to be able to come up with ideas with staff and then get a drawing back really quickly to show us how that idea worked - its was a lot cheaper this way than actually getting walls built and then knocking them down if they proved to be in the wrong place.
Scope
Existing aged care facilities require expansion that creates modern living environments while utilizing abandoned site features and integrating seamlessly with established operations and community presence.
We transformed a long-abandoned basement excavation into the foundation for contemporary aged care facilities that provide light-filled, spacious living environments. The addition creates new street presence while upgrading electrical and fire services throughout. Special acoustic design addresses military airfield proximity, while direct connections to existing facilities ensure seamless operational integration.
24-resident addition utilizes abandoned basement foundation, adding two floors of modern residential aged care with staff support stations, therapy facilities, and direct connection to existing dining and activity areas. The result demonstrates how abandoned site features can become foundations for modern aged care that enhances both resident experience and community presence.
